Currently in my Outdoor Pursuits class, we are learning about rock climbing. We are learning different knots to tie such as the figure eight follow through, figure eight with a bite, and a double figure eight with a bite. We learned how to belay by using caribeaners and belaying devices. We also learned several commands to use while climbing such as tension, slack, rock, falling, etc. On Tuesday we get to go to the climbing wall at the ARC and test our skills.

I had Outdoor last year and it was amazing. You'll love rock climbing and once you go on the high rope course try to do all of them (especially the dangle duo, it was my favorite). You learn a lot of things that you could incorporate in real life. Smith is awesome and try to get to know everyone in class because it will make the class so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI had Outdoor last summer and I loved the class it was so much fun. My favorite part was the zip line and the one army course on the tower. MAKE SURE YOU DO BOTH it is so exciting!! You are going to be able to do stuff with your students someday even if you don't have a ropes course. Have Fun
