Guest Speaker
Yesterday in Health Foundations class we had a guest speaker. She came to talk about smoking and the effects of it. She brought in pig lungs that are identical to human lungs. One set of lungs were healthy and one set was what a set of smoker's lungs would look like. It was neat to see what the lungs looked like when they didn't have air in them and then she blew them up with air. I was surprised how big they actually were when inflated. Another visual the guest speaker had was how much tar enters the body and lungs in a month and in a year. Another interesting fact that I learned about smoker's lungs were that if the lungs are not permently damaged and if the person stops smoking after about 10 years their lungs become healthy again.

I really enjoyed the presenation in health! I thoght it was going to be boring but it was actually really cool and I learned alot. That pig lung was gross but it was cool to see what a smoker lung would look like. One of my friends smokes and I told her everything I learned in that presentation to help her stop!
ReplyDeleteI really found the presentation to be pretty cool. I learned a lot about smoking and the effects smoking has on a person. I found it cool that after a person stops smoking their lungs start to get better immediately. I thought that the lungs were really cool I never realized that they would get that big but after I thought about it I realized when I am working out doing cardio that my chest get pretty big when I'm trying to catch my breath. I learned a lot and told one of the people I know that smokes about the class. The one thing I never knew was that if a person smokes when they have a broken bone or are sick it takes a lot longer to heal.
ReplyDeleteI liked the presentation. I learned a lot about smoking, some stuff I didn't know before. The best part was when she showed us the real pig lungs.
ReplyDeleteI think that the guest speaker was very interesting. Personally I don't smoke but if I did, I would stop after that presentation! haha. I especially liked how she inflated the pig lungs and showed how lungs work. I found it very interesting!
